The Student Nurse Extern (SNE) Program at Good Samaritan provides nursing students with supervised clinical experiences to build confidence, enhance skills, and transition smoothly into professional practice. As a Magnet-designated hospital, we offer a supportive environment where you can gain valuable hands-on experience alongside experienced nursing staff.
Our three-tiered program (SNE 1, SNE 2, and SNE 3) allows you to advance your skills as you progress through nursing school:
SNE 1: Focuses on Patient Care Technician (PCT) skills, available upon acceptance into an accredited LPN or RN program.
SNE 2: A mix of PCT and Student Nurse Extern (SNE) responsibilities, requiring completion of nursing skills coursework from an accredited LPN or RN Program.
SNE 3: Primarily an SNE role, available to students in the final year of an RN program, with opportunities for PCT hours as needed.
