Ultrasound uses sound waves to obtain images, there is no radiation. The area being studied is covered with a small amount of gel. The sonographer then moves the ultrasound transducer across the body part being studied to obtain images for the Radiologist.
All ultrasound technologists are Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with over 40 years of combined experience. Ultrasound is ACR accredited.
The ultrasound department performs ultrasounds of the abdomen (including gallbladder, liver, pancreas, kidneys, spleen and aorta), thyroid, neck, soft tissues and pelvis (obstetric and gynecologic, scrotal).
We also perform ultrasound-guided procedures such as biopsies and drainages.
