Josh Vollmer, MD

About Josh

Originally hailing from Jasper, Indiana, Dr. Vollmer has maintained close ties to his hometown, where the majority of his family still resides. He is a proud 2012 graduate of Jasper High School.

Dr. Vollmer pursued his higher education at Indiana University (IU), completing both his undergraduate studies and medical school at IU Bloomington and IU School of Medicine, respectively. Following medical school, he finished his anesthesia residency at IU in Indianapolis.

He chose the specialty of anesthesia because it allows him to work with his hands and thrive in a team setting, ensuring comprehensive perioperative healthcare. When meeting patients for the first time, Dr. Vollmer aims to provide clarity and reassurance, treating each individual with the same care as he would his own family. He ensures that patients know precisely what to expect on the day of their procedure, easing any anxieties they may have.

Outside of his professional life, Josh enjoys a variety of hobbies including hunting, hiking, playing video games, and ping pong. However, his current favorite pastime is watching his one-year-old daughter explore and learn about the world.

Josh was drawn to Good Samaritan Hospital after a spontaneous job application led to an interview. He was impressed by the kindness and accommodations offered by the staff and quickly realized that this was the kind of environment he wanted to be a part of.

One of Dr. Vollmer's top health tips is to prioritize sleep, advocating for seven to eight hours of sleep every night. He believes that proper sleep is vital for overall health and well-being, yet often the most neglected aspect.
