Upcoming Road Closure Will Impact Access to Good Samaritan Emergency Room and Sixth Street Entrance

Upcoming Road Closure Will Impact Access to Good Samaritan Emergency Room and Sixth Street Entrance

Patients and visitors to Good Samaritan should prepare for a temporary change in how they access the Emergency Room and Sixth Street entrance due to a road closure planned by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

INDOT is expected to close Sixth Street between Vigo and Willow Streets at some point during the week of April 14, though the exact start date has not yet been announced. Once the closure begins, this portion of Sixth Street is expected to remain closed for approximately two weeks, depending on weather conditions.

During this time, patients and visitors will need to use alternate routes to reach the Sixth Street side of the Good Samaritan campus. Two primary detours are recommended:

  • Route 1: Use Seventh Street to Nicholas Street to enter the Green Parking Lot.
  • Route 2: From Willow Street, take Ninth Street to Barnett, then turn onto Seventh Street and access the Green Parking Lot at Nicholas.

Good Samaritan encourages all patients and visitors to allow extra travel time and plan ahead to avoid delays. Signage will be posted to help guide traffic to the correct entry points.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our patients, visitors, and staff while the state makes these necessary improvements to the streets surrounding our campus,” said Tiffany Conover, Good Samaritan Director of Marketing and Public Relations. “We are committed to keeping everyone informed and safe during this temporary change.”

Good Samaritan will provide updates as more information becomes available, including the official start date of the closure. Please follow our social media channels and website for the latest news.
