Good Samaritan Offers Special Lung Cancer Screening Days

In honor of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Good Samaritan is offering special appointment times for Lung Cancer Screening evaluations in November. These appointments will allow individuals to determine their eligibility for lung cancer screening and schedule a low-dose CT (LDCT) screening if they qualify.

During a shared-decision making appointment with Brittany Farmer, FNP-C, lung cancer screening eligibility will be assessed based on national guidelines. The LDCT screening is a critical tool for early detection, especially for those considered at high risk for developing lung cancer.

Appointment dates and times:

  • November 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • November 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Eligibility for LDCT lung screening includes:

  • Ages 50-77
  • A 20 or more pack-year smoking history (e.g., one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years)
  • Current smokers or former smokers who have quit within the last 15 years
  • No current pulmonary symptoms
  • No other chest CT within the last year

To schedule an appointment, call 812-885-6948. Lung cancer screening is covered by most insurance plans when all eligibility criteria are met. Please check with your insurance provider to confirm coverage for this shared decision-making appointment and LDCT screening.

Early detection through screening can save lives, and Good Samaritan is proud to offer these specialized appointments to help high-risk individuals take proactive steps for their health.
