Good Samaritan Hospice will once again host its annual Light Up a Life Program on Tuesday, December 3 at 6 p.m. (EST). Light Up a Life is an annual fundraising and candle-lighting service held in remembrance of individuals who have passed away and in celebration of those living. This is a public, community-wide event hosted by Good Samaritan Hospice for every family throughout the 11 counties it serves in Indiana and Illinois.
“We truly enjoy organizing this event every year,” stated Makenzie Barrett, Hospice Nurse Manager. “It’s a special time when our Hospice staff can show their support and give encouragement to the families and loved ones of people who have completed their end-of-life journey.”
Charitable contributions are greatly appreciated and ensure that Good Samaritan Hospice, a non-profit organization, will be able to continue providing the gift of loving care to patients and their families during the final season of life, regardless of their ability to pay. The generous contributions of those who support the Hospice mission, “to celebrate the lives of those who light up our lives”, has allowed this beautiful tradition to continue for the past 25 years.
“Light Up a Life allows the community to come together to honor and remember our loved ones. Our hope is to bring comfort, peace and healing so people can move forward in the journey of grief,” stated Jamie Kroeger, Hospice Bereavement and Volunteer Coordinator.
Those who contribute a minimum $10 donation will have the name of their loved one read aloud during the ceremony and inscribed on a special remembrance banner that will be displayed throughout the holiday season. In order to make sure your loved one's name is placed on the banner, please submit your donation by November 18. Names that are submitted after this date will still be read, but will not be placed on the banner.
The candle-lighting service will be at The Grand Bankquet Hall in Vincennes on December 3. Dinner will be served during the ceremony. Shuttle services will be available from the parking lot to the front door. Please contact (812) 887-9951 once parked for the shuttle. If you would like to make a contribution or have any questions, please contact Good Samaritan Hospice at (812) 885-8035.
