Good Samaritan is partnering with BlueStar TeleHealth to provide remote patient monitoring (RPM). RPM puts health equipment in the home, which automatically delivers health information to a nurse-monitoring team.
Covid-19 has led to RPM becoming more popular for patients and providers. Good Samaritan decided to better serve its patients by offering remote patient monitoring for in-home blood pressures and has chosen to work with BlueStar for these needs.
Due to the increasing numbers of uncontrolled high blood pressure, in-home patient monitoring, along with continued interaction with Good Samaritan nursing staff, the number of patients with high blood pressure will begin to decrease.
“As health care continues to evolve rapidly we have seen hospital care move to the outpatient setting and outpatient care move to the home,” said Adam Thacker, Chief Operating Officer at Good Samaritan. “In partnering with BlueStar TeleHealth we are excited to offer remote patient monitoring, starting with an FDA-approved blood pressure cuff, where patient data is securely sent back to our trusted team of health care professionals at Good Samaritan. Our clinicians can leverage this technology to provide the same level of care received by coming to the office. In doing so you as the patient save time as does our team.”
Patients interested in the RPM service can speak with their provider at Good Samaritan or call BlueStar directly at 812-994-0600. Once patients receive their blood pressure cuff, they can then measure and track their blood pressure daily. When issues are detected, BlueStar connects the patient with their clinical care team at Good Samaritan. This service is covered by most insurances.
BlueStar’s CEO, retired Admiral Rober Wray, said, “We are grateful to be working with a health care provider of Good Samaritan’s caliber to deliver better care to patients in their home.”
The blood pressure cuffs will be the first of many RPM tools offered to patients in the future. The ease of access and continued monitoring make at-home health care more convenient and easier for patients to get their health back on track.
