Good Samaritan Community Health Services Helping Community Start New Year on the Right Track

The new year brings new dreams, goals and the start of healthy habits. Good Samaritan Community Health Services is helping those wanting to start the new year focusing on health by offering free BMI screenings throughout the month of January.
BMI (Body Mass Index) is an approximate measure of body fat based on a person’s height and weight. This screening method is an easy way to define if a person is underweight, healthy weight, overweight or obese. “Reaching and maintaining a healthy weight is one of the most significant things you can do to decrease your risk of many chronic diseases and improve your health and well-being,” said Susan Yochum, Wellness Coordinator. “If you find your BMI is out of the normal range, know that losing fat doesn’t have to mean losing a lot of weight. A modest weight loss of 5%-10% of your total body weight is very likely to have many positive health benefits and help you feel better.”
Community Health Services will be providing free body composition / BMI screenings at the following locations in January:
